The Curious Case of the DEI Barbie

And the Death of Woke Identity Politics

Many had tapped Kamala Harris to become the first woman of color to become president of the United States. To her credit her campaign didn’t play up her gender (or race) as much as her female predecessor Hilary Clinton but it seems the elites backing her didn’t get the message. The reason we’re told the country rejected her was because of racism, misogyny and hatred. Obama even scolded black male voters who “just aren't feeling the idea of having a woman as president”. But the data doesn’t even remotely serve the delusions of the left when it comes to them pointing fingers at what they see as a benighted electorate rather than looking inwards at a crushing loss.

Let’s start with racism. Trump apparently says a lot of racist stuff so it makes sense racists voted for him over Harris right? But Trump made the most gains, and Harris the most losses, among Blacks and Latinos. In fact, Harris did quite well with whites outperforming Hillary Clinton and Biden. Democrats could have easily won with the white vote turnout. The problem Kamala faced was not with whites. The problem was Democrats’ gains with whites were more than offset by losses among non-whites — men and women alike.

Kamala supported widely unpopular policies with non-white voters. Many law abiding Black and Latino voters want more not less police in their neighborhoods. Especially in the inner city where streets are overrun by gangs and cartels. Yet the Democratic elite protected in their suburban gated and secured communities quite literally bent the knee to the now defunct BLM movement whose main policies were defunding the police and abolishing the nuclear family. Kamala Harris voiced support for “defund the police” in a radio interview in June 2020 amidst nationwide protests for police reform. Harris said in the June radio interview the movement “rightly” called out the amount of money spent on police departments instead of community services such as education, housing, and healthcare, emphasizing that more police did not equate to more public safety. “This whole movement is about rightly saying, we need to take a look at these budgets and figure out whether it reflects the right priorities,” Harris said on a New York-based radio program “Ebro in the Morning” on June 9, 2020.

She wanted to defund ICE as a senator. She declared “undocumented immigrants are not criminals” while she was AG, apparently not knowing or not caring that illegally entering the country is a federal misdemeanor, and a felony for repeat offenders. She also failed miserably in her role as VP when tasked with being the nation’s “border czar”. On her watch, illegal crossings by those from Mexico and Northern Triangle countries currently exceed those seen during the Trump administration by an incredible 140%. The best way to get Latino Americans who came here legally to vote against you is to allow millions of illegal migrants to enter the country taking their jobs, committing violence, importing drugs and trafficking their children.

Even Native Americans heavily favored Trump. Seventeen counties with majority-Native American populations swung toward Donald Trump by ten or more percentage points. Just as with black and Hispanic voters, Native Americans had concerns that extended beyond the identity politics and left-wing virtue signaling of Democrats and the Kamala Harris campaign. Nationally, a whopping 65 percent of Native American voters went for Trump. I guess all those land acknowledgements didn’t work.

Now let’s move on to sexism. Trump makes derogatory remarks about women and likes to “grab them by the p—y”. Ergo misogyny also helped get him elected. Wrong again. He performed better than ever with men AND with women than in 2016. Between 2016 and 2024, men shifted 2 percentage points towards Trump but women shifted a whole 5 percentage points away from the Dems over that same period – more than twice as much! Yet, the post-election focus has been overwhelmingly on men for some reason. Democrats lost in 2024 because Harris performed extremely poorly…WITH WOMEN.

You would think that if women’s rights were on the ballot, as the Dems loved to proclaim, more women would have stayed and swung towards Kamala over Trump. So what happened? It seems that Kamala picked the wrong women’s issue that was the top priority for women. Women care more about the encroachment of men in what they thought were their sex-protected spaces, sports, change rooms and life. Kamala supported taxpayer funded transgender surgeries for detained migrants. Biden tried to erase biological sex in Title IX protections for women and girls replacing it with gender identity as a basis for discrimination ushering in government protected access by biological males to enter women’s spaces. While at the same time the world saw story after story of biological males taking medals, scholarships, trophies and endorsements from women and girls. And the normie backlash against gender ideology is just beginning:

On economic policy, she’s also leaned hard left with price controls to tackle “corporate greed and gouging”. Anyone who bothers to read a book on basic economics will realize how bad price controls are in creating shortages and queues, reducing quality. And then comes the mother of all failed economic policies in taxing unrealized capital gains. Such a tax would harm everyone investing for retirement because of depressing asset values as investors are forced to make massive annual sales just to pay the tax. It would completely decimate the startup market. Many of these economic policies sound a lot like communism. In fact, she ran an ad during her 2020 campaign promoting the new sanitized version of communism called “equity” from the playbook of the Orwellian “Diversity, Inclusion and Equity” racket.

But in general, the data shows Democrats taking a sharp turn leftward on cultural issues over the past decade. Issues falling under the umbrella of wokeness. We see this not only in Democratic voters’ self-reported ideology, but in their views on issues including immigration and affirmative action. Notably, the shift began in 2016. This suggests that Trump’s election radicalized the left, not the right.

These shifts are changing the image of the left in voters’ minds. Survey data shows that in every election from 1948 to 2012, American voters’ image of the Democrats was as the party that stood up for the working class and the poor. In 2016 that flipped. Now it is seen primarily as the party of the cultural elites espousing their luxury beliefs.

And so the Democrats put up a presidential candidate, a woman of color, as a symbol of their virtue to further their goals on minority issues. But her track record as the California AG and senator shows an incredibly confusing and complicated history with the law and policy. As an executive, her VP office had a 92 percent staff turnover rate even beating Trump’s 1st term rate.

Now shifting to her run for the presidency is where we get a real glimpse of the identity based tokensim. The Democrats again tout how democracy is on the ballot and yet her rise to the top of the ticket was anything but democratic. She completely failed the 2020 primary race being the first candidate to drop out having never won a single primary and unable to raise enough money to keep her campaign going. Joe Biden then explicitly said he would chose a woman as his running mate if he were to win the nomination. Biden appointed Kamala as his VP, apparently believing this would improve Democrats’ numbers with black people and women. Instead, they did worse in 2020 than in 2016 with women, black people, and black women in particular (ditto with Asians, including Asian women). Harris added nothing to the ticket. As VP, Harris had the lowest approval rating of any VP. Only getting a boost in June of 2024 after the Democratic kingmakers in the party decided to skip a contested democratic primary at the DNC and propel her to the top of the ticket while rallying the left wing legacy media (aka the democrat propaganda machine) to hype her up like she was the 2nd coming of woke Jesus. So much for democracy.

But everyone knew she had lied about and hid the deteriorating health of President Biden until his disastrous debate performance made it impossible to ignore. And she repeatedly said she would do nothing different than Biden while consistently proclaiming “we are not going back” and to “turn the page” during her campaign, despite being in power for the previous 4 years. And when it comes to her ability to communicate or even have a coherent thought beyond canned bromides, she produces what people in her own team call word salad city culminating in her famous phrase “I can imagine what can be unburdened by what has been” followed by her odd cackling.

Her propensity for word salad and fear of backlash from her woke staffers led to her most costliest mistake on the campaign trail. Avoiding a multi hour, unscripted conversation with the POD father, Joe Rogan. A program that reaches 11 million people per episode — and at times over 50 million — many of them undecided voters. Trump, Vance and Elon all went on Rogan and that ultimately led to a Trump endorsement by Rogan. This mentality of the left to avoid having their ideas tested by heterodox people is a recurring theme you’ll see in the coming months. They would rather lose elections than pollute their puritan brand by those they feel are uncouth. Instead she decided to go on the tastefully named Call Her Daddy podcast catered to rich young women for 1 hour of scripted questions which apparently raked in just under a million viewers. This is a podcast by the way who’s most famous episode explains how to give the perfect blowjob called the Gluck Gluck 9000. Classy.

And if that doesn’t make you cringe, then came the ridiculous ads that demeaned men. The worst one being the “Man Enough” ad by Creatives for Harris that was clearly the idealized version of men that progressive women envision, as opposed to the reality of typical men.

This was promptly followed by another ridiculous ad by Vote Common Good, narrated by Julia Roberts, encouraging women to hide their true feeling and thoughts from their oafish men for fear of retribution. As if all men are these oppressive beings expecting conformity from the women in their lives.

And then there’s the two caricatured male mascots of their movement, Doug Emhoff and Tim Walz. The first is the husband and Dem anointed “wife guy” of Kamala Harris who had an affair with his previous wife and beat his ex girlfriend. Meanwhile, Harris’ running mate got labeled “Tampon” Tim by some online trolls because of a 2023 Minnesota law Walz signed mandating free period products in all public school restrooms “to all menstruating students” in grades 4 to 12. But the more damming evidence is a bill he signed into law last year that allows legal wiggle room on the requirement to try to save the life of a baby born alive after a failed abortion.  Not to mention his lies about him being at the Tiananmen Square massacre and when pushed on it at the VP debate proclaiming “I’m a knucklehead”. Which is basically a folksy way of saying “I’m too dumb to remember the truth but am absolutely qualified to be the vice president.”

Finally there’s the campaign spending spree with what she must have thought was Monopoly money. The Harris campaign managed to blow more than $1 billion (yes that’s a B) in campaign funds — and not only lose, but get wiped off the electoral map by Donald Trump, who ended his campaign with roughly a $488 million spend. Let me repeat that again. Kamala Harris not only blew a BILLION dollars, but actually ended up $20 million in debt and Donald Trump teased her by actually offering to bail her out. Where did the money all go? To celebrities mostly, and elaborate sets and stages. As it turns out, not all of those celebrity “activists” appeared with Kamala Harris because they believed in her. They charged fees — and some were astronomical. For example, she spent six figures to build a custom set on the Call Her Daddy podcast. She spent $20 million on event production alone. Oprah got $1 million just to show up. Al Sharpton got $500k. It’s unclear what J-Lo received but how much would you pay for a woman—who’s been engaged six times, married four times and dated Diddy—to give a speech about how you should trust her judgement on Kamala for president. None of this inspires confidence in a presidential candidate who is supposed to tame voters concerns on inflation, government bloat and a $35 trillion dollar debt.

Kamala Harris will fade into the dustbin of presidential candidates, excommunicated from the party and likely never to be heard from seriously again other than at far left feminist speaking gigs. Her political career, however, will go down in history as the stuff of legend. She was an incredibly incompetent and uninspiring candidate paraded into prominence by an out of touch leftist elite, more based on her race and gender rather than her competence. But what she really became is the grim reaper of identity politics. A macabre DEI barbie that put a stake in the heart of wokeness. And until the left abandons this toxic brand of cultural ideas any woman of color who wants to rise out of the ashes of their failed project will be immediately doubted by a large majority of the country. Kamala Harris set woman of color back years if not decades. I’d be pretty angry at her and the Democrats if I was a woman of color. Luckily I’m not one…at least not yet.
